How to read these charts
Statcounter measures clicks from AI chatbots to websites in its network. ChatGPT’s 76.87% in Switzerland does not mean that 76.87% of Swiss people use it. Answers without clicks and much in-app activity are absent. This is not a representative population survey. Rounding and unlisted tools may leave totals slightly different from 100%.

How often, and for what purposes?
In spring 2025, 43% of Swiss residents aged 15–88 had used generative AI, according to the FSO. Among AI users, 36% used it daily and 34% at least weekly. Those frequency figures describe users, not the entire population.
The Swiss survey covers personal, professional and educational use, including creating content and learning. It does not provide a purpose-by-provider breakdown for ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude here.

How often, and for what purposes?
Eurostat reports that 32.7% of EU residents aged 16–74 used generative AI in the three months before the 2025 survey. Personal use: 25.1%; work: 15.1%; formal education: 9.4% of that age group. Purposes overlap and cannot be added. This survey covers the EU, not all of Europe.
These EU figures describe purposes, not daily query volumes. This source does not provide a comparable breakdown by individual AI provider.

How often, and for what purposes?
In a survey of over 48,000 people across 47 countries, 66% reported regular AI use (University of Melbourne / KPMG; November 2024–January 2025). This covers AI in general and the surveyed countries, not the entire world population.
A separate 2025 ChatGPT study analysed 1.5 million conversations: 49% of messages were asking for information or advice, 40% completing tasks and 11% expressing or reflecting. This covers sampled ChatGPT consumer messages, not all AI systems.
The surveys use different age ranges, periods and definitions. Their percentages cannot rank Switzerland against Europe and the world. These sources do not offer consistent user counts by provider and purpose across all three regions; we do not fill gaps with estimates.
What does this mean for your business?
ChatGPT leads measured referrals in all three regions, making it a useful place to check visibility. Referral share does not establish buying intent or potential customer numbers. Test relevant customer questions and compare your own results over time. Our audit currently tests OpenAI with web search; it does not also test Gemini, Claude or other tools.
